UK Low VHF CB Citizens Band Radio

There are a lot of CB’s in use around the UK and worldwide. Mostly truck drivers in the morning but a lot of people use them for general chit chat or long distance contacts. The long DX contacts can be interesting to listen to and even the lorry drivers are fun in the morning.

Below are the main 40 channels for use in the UK.

There are another 40 CEPT (Europe) frequencies that are used in the UK and also other Licence free frequencies that can be used for chit chat in the UK like PMR446 and lower power devices.   1. We only had FM available legally to use on CB in the UK but they have now allowed AM and Side Band, they’ve also revoked the need for a CB licence too which is good.

    In total we have 80 CB Frequencies to use in the UK, these are the 40 UK CB Frequencies listed above (27.60125 – 27.99125) and also the 40 CEPT UK & Europe Frequencies (26.9650 – 27.40507)

  2. Oh wow – I recall CB of old in the U.S. you needed a license. No real test like in the amateur service, you just sent your info in and got a call sign, I believe ours was KOR-8812. Now of course I’m KD1S.
